Art & File Guidelines For Labels

To ensure the best print quality for your Taylor Labels & Packaging order, please follow the artwork and file guidelines below.

Accepted File Types

Preferred format: print-ready PDF (300 DPI minimum).

  • Adobe Illustrator® (AI, PDF)
  • Adobe Photoshop® (PSD, TIFF, PDF)
  • Adobe InDesign® (INDD, PDF)

We do not accept artwork created in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, or Publisher, or CAD/manufacturing drawings.

Artwork Setup

  • All files must be at least 300 DPI at final size.
  • Color should be set to CMYK, not RGB.
  • Provide one design per file, sized to the exact finished dimensions.
  • Embed or outline all fonts before submitting your file.
  • Flatten or embed all linked images.

Bleeds & Safe Area

  • Add a 1/8" bleed (0.125") on all sides when artwork prints to the edge.
  • Keep important text and graphics at least 1/16" inside the cut line.
  • If using borders, keep them away from the edge to avoid visible shifting.

Dies, Cut Lines & Special Finishing

  • Show die lines, cuts, and perforations as a separate spot-color layer.
  • Clearly indicate any varnish, white ink, or other special finishing areas on their own layer.

Print-Ready Artwork Tips

  • Set artwork to print at 100% scale (no scaling on press).
  • Use clean vector art whenever possible for logos and key elements.
  • Avoid low-resolution images, photocopies, screenshots, or web graphics.
  • Check spelling, layout, and content before submitting your file.

Proofs

  • You will receive an electronic proof for approval before we print.
  • Production time begins after you approve the proof.
  • Colors on screen may differ from final print due to monitor and printer variation.

For best on-screen viewing in Adobe Acrobat:

  • Uncheck “Enhance thin lines” in Page Display settings.
  • Set “Use Overprint Preview” to Always.

Reprints & Quality

  • We stand behind our products and workmanship.
  • If there is a print defect caused by production, we will reprint or credit your order as appropriate.
  • We cannot be responsible for errors present in artwork or proofs that were approved.

Reverses, Screens & Registration

  • Reverse (knocked-out) type can be printed at no extra charge; please indicate which elements should be reversed.
  • Screen tints are generally available in the 5–95% range.
  • Registration tolerance follows industry standards at approximately 1/16".

Rights to Promotion

Taylor Labels & Packaging may use printed products in samples, photos, and promotional materials, unless you request otherwise at the time of order.
